Product Description
A carbon fiber gimbal with an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and separate locks & tension controls for both the swingarm and panning base.
The GH31C uses a lightweight, high-strength carbon fiber material for its main body and CNC-machined aluminum for other parts. The result is a lightweight unit with an impressive maximum load of 33 lbs / 15 kg. The carbon fiber design also helps to reduce vibrations when compared to an all-metal gimbal and is easier to handle in freezing temperatures.
Separate tension controls and locks at both the arm and base provide a wide range of options for precise control. The tension controls allow you to use the gimbal traditionally with loose, free motions or smooth, fluid-like, controlled motions. The locks enable you to lock in either or both movements independently. The included, optional smooth-control handle does a great job of counterbalancing a camera rig for more effortless movements and tracking of moving objects.
The included Dovetail (Arca-compatible) quick release plate has 1/4"-20 and 3/8”-16 mounting bolts and a removable spring-loaded anti-twist pin. Since many long lenses have two tripod ports (one of each size), connecting both drastically improves stability and eliminates any possible twisting on the plate. A locating mark on the plate aligns with a laser-etched scale on the gimbal, allowing you to repeatably mount a rig to the GH31C in precisely the correct spot for proper balance.
With a cold-weather rating for use down to -13 F / -25 C, the GH31C works well in many climates (operability also depends on moisture and humidity).
The entire GH31C kit breaks down and fits into an included soft, protective travel case.
