Sony’s first2 G Master™ standard zoom with constant F2 max. aperture is ideal for portraits and many other subjects. Its F2 aperture, superb optics, and mobility will appeal to even the most demanding pros. Sharpness and contrast rival prime lens quality, while brightness, unrivaled AF, zoom, and a compact, lightweight design offer extraordinary creative scope for stills and movies.
Smooth, quiet power zoom is ideal for movie shooting, and AF is available even while zooming. Built-in optical stabilization works with in-body stabilization4, including Active Mode, to minimize blur in movies. Focus breathing is controlled to minimize shifts in angle of view while focusing for smooth, stable footage. Body breathing compensation is supported1, and metadata allows compensation during editing.
Optics featuring large elements manufactured using advanced techniques, including three XA (extreme aspherical) elements, ensure high corner-to-corner resolution at F2 throughout the zoom range. One ED (extra-low dispersion) and three Super ED elements reduce chromatic aberration, Nano AR Coating II cuts flare/ghosting, floating focus boosts close-focus resolution, and gorgeous G Master bokeh enhances dimensionality.
